Durante muchos años se pensó que las obras de ciencia ficción se limitan a los viajes espaciales y a seres de distintas apariencias. Sin embargo, si se visualizan desde el punto de vista afectivo, en la mayoría se observa un mensaje de amor.
Seres que se enamoran pero que sus sueños no pueden realizarse por distintos motivos, la distancia, la profesión de cada uno, la apariencia física, la muerte.
Es así que hace unos años, la empresa medidora de sintonía para la ciudad de Lima, demostró que el nivel de audiencia de la serie Star Trek fue del 3% durante su periodo de transmisión.
Ese porcentaje es similar en el Perú y Latinoamérica, sobre el público que aprecia las series culturales, independiente el sector poblacional. La estadística informó que del intervalo entre 18 a 49 años de personas que vieron la serie de televisión Star Trek, 58% son mujeres y el 42% hombres.
En las revistas Starlog, Communicator, Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, informan que los clubs de fans de Star Trek en el mundo son organizados y liderados por mujeres, debido a que los protagonistas son hombres atractivos, esbeltos y con hermosas sonrisas, e inclusive de miradas cautivantes como la de Mr. Spock.
En la serie original seis de los siete protagonistas, fueron galanes masculinos. En TNG además de los seis protagonistas hombres estaban Q y Barclay, entre muchos otros galanes de Deanna y Beverly
En DS9 junto a Bashir, Jake y Sisko, los personajes de Dukat (mi favorito) y Weyoun, en VOY con Chakotay, Paris, Kim, Tuvok y el Doctor, y en Enterprise Archer, Reed, Trip, Mayweather y Shran. Todos ellos venden miles de portadas de revistas e inclusive sus entrevistas se ofrecen por Internet.

Es importante mencionar que el club de fans Star Trek Asociación Cultural del Perú este año cumple 21 años de actividades, gracias al público femenino que constantemente nos visita para comentar y recordar las escenas románticas apreciadas en los episodios Star Trek.
